Me as a learner (practice)

Attitude towards pupils

I think that I am able to maintain classroom discipline. However, because of the fact that my practice was online with the children being in the classroom, it is difficult to say how it would look like if we all were in the classroom. But, I think it will be even easier than it was. I believe that everyone deserves to be respected including children who observe their teachers and are likely to copy their behaviour. Teachers are role models for children thus it is extremely important to present positive behaviour so that they are inspired to treat others with respect. Because of my previous experience as a teacher, I am able to correctly recognise and assess students' skills and needs. I was not that easy at the beginning of my teaching career, but I was able to improve it with practice. When talking to children, I pay attention to giving instructions because they are very important particularly when working with young learners. I try to communicate clearly the requirements so that children know what is expected from them.

ME AS A LEARNER

I am aware that observing other teachers and being observed while teaching is a great way to improve my practices. I am willing to learn and listen to constructive feedback on which I can reflect and implement the suggestions into my practice. I am a visualiser thus it is much easier for me to analyse and reflect on my teaching when I have some notes in front of me. It allows me to remind myself about the situation. I learned a lot during this year and I am very grateful for that. I am particularly happy that I developed my confidence and I started  teaching because of the practical tips and valuable resource shared by my colleagues. I think that I changed both personally and professionally, but it is a positive change. I developed my skills and I became more reflective. I feel that I am a more knowledgeable person now.

What do you think about being observed by others?
